RFID E-bike management In Smart Cities In China

For a long time, the e-bike have been parked at will and unsafe to use electricity, which has a bad impact on public security and the image of the city. In recent days, this problem has finally been solved in Guangdong, where e-bikes are the most popular. Provided a solution for a community in Haizhu District, Guangzhou, and has now entered the pilot stage.

Under the active deployment of residential properties, the smart community management project has been quietly launched. The project includes the management of e-bikes in the community. At present, functions such as identification of entering and exiting vehicles and vehicle owners, access control management, and non-sensing gates have been realized. Managers can supervise the e-bikes entering and leaving the community through the system. On the one hand, it can monitor whether the vehicle is parked and provide an alarm function, and on the other hand, it can reduce the labor cost of the property.

The specific working method is as follows: by placing RFID readers at the gates, corridors and elevator entrances of the community, and at the same time pasting an RFID tag on the front end of the e-bike, based on this IoT technology, the intelligent management of vehicles in the community can be realized. At the same time, in order to ensure the safety of charging and discharging of e-bikes, the property staff also affixed labels to the batteries to realize the three-terminal safety management mode of owners, vehicles and batteries.

Not only that, the management system can also monitor the entry and exit of vehicles in the non-community area, and at the same time, it can trace whether the vehicles in the residential area are stolen. This plays a vital role in fire safety and property safety in the community.

It is worth mentioning that, technically speaking, in the application of RFID, there are generally three anti-theft solutions for electric vehicles on the market: UHF RFID, 2.4Ghz active RFID, and GPS+GPRS positioning.

UHF RFID: UHF RFID antennas are installed at each intersection and traffic artery to receive the information of UHF RFID tags installed on e-bikes, and the data is uploaded to the central server. This method is relatively cheap for tags, but the receiving distance is average. At about ten meters, and it is greatly affected by climate and environment, this solution is suitable for regional positioning of indoor items.

2.4Ghz Active RFID: It can be installed on e-bikes by sticking or screwing; it has the characteristics of simple and compact appearance, long reading distance, and low power consumption. It has been widely used in corporate fixed assets and urban on e-bikes management and positioning.

GPS+GPRS positioning: The GPS positioning device is installed on the e-bike and sends the location information to the central server. The equipment price of this method is relatively high, and the monthly traffic fee needs to be paid. The power consumption is large, and it is easy to rely on the e-bike battery power supply. It is dismantled and the positioning effect is poor in the environment of high-rise buildings in the city, and it is basically impossible to locate indoors.
